Former Crestline Police Chief Tim McClaran died at the age of 64 on Nov. 21. McClaran had been ill for quite some time.

McClaran was the chief of police in Crestline from 2009 to 2011 and retired from that post. McClaran had a 33-year career in law enforcement with the Ontario Police Department and became that commuity’s chief of police in 1988. McClaran also served with the Richland County Sheriff’s Office from 1972 to 1975.

McClaran was a Vietnam War veteran and served with the Marine Corps. While in the armed services he was awarded the Purple Heart.
