BUCYRUS–Former Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival Queen Ashley Wilson is setting her sights on pageants once again.
Wilson was crowned Bratwurst Festival Queen in 2015. She has volunteered for the pageant since. A first-generation college graduate, having earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo, she is now married and a mother of two daughters.
In addition to academic achievements, Wilson has a strong community presence including hosting “Captain Not Captive with Ashley Wilson,” where she shares stories and insights about her past experiences.
Wilson is competing for the 2023 Ms. Marion Popcorn Title. The competition is open to women married or unmarried, ages 25 and up.
Beyond this event, Wilson is setting her sights on competing for Mrs. Ohio for America pageant in 2024, with the aspiration of winning and then participating in the prestigious Mrs. America pageant.
Wilson is part of the Leadership Unlimited program through the Richland County Chamber of Commerce. She will graduate as part of the class of 2024.
“My involvement in pageantry has been a transformative experience. Over the last decade, I’ve witnessed pageantry evolve, and I’m honored to be part of that positive change. Pageantry has taught me the importance of embracing my true authentic self and recognizing that regardless of the outcome, I’ve tried my best to represent who I am. Above all, I aspire to be an inspiration to other women. I believe that age, background, or upbringing should never limit anyone’s potential. Even without a title, my goal is to motivate young women to pursue their dreams and embrace their worthiness by being unapologetically themselves. I want to show them that anything is possible with determination, authenticity, and self-belief.” Wilson said
The Ms. Popcorn Pageant will be held on August 5 at 6 pm at the River Valley High School in Marion. The event is open to the public.
