BUCYRUS—The following statement was submitted to Crawford County Now:
Here is the response from Bucyrus Firefighters IAFF Local 1120 regarding Law Director Gernert’s letter. We feel Gernert’s letter was filled with unreliable information, as he even stated he is not a labor attorney nor an expert on labor law, he was simply giving his opinion through most of the letter that was published.
The Bucyrus Firefighters consulted with their legal team, who we may note are experts on labor law. The forwarded attachment is that rebuttal, and the position of the union is that Bucyrus City Council has acted within its legal rights to establish a codified city ordinance that sets the minimum daily staffing levels of the fire department.
