When one ventures to the Crawford County Fair, he can expect to see many different kinds of animals in the 4-H barns, but this year the variety grew with the Wild World of Animals show. This traveling group based out of Pennsylvania set up a colorful stage on which there will be educational and fun half-hour demonstrations taking place all week.
The show is lively and entertaining, with humor for all ages. There is an array of animals brought onto the stage by the expert handlers, some of which include a tortoise, a cobra, a parrot, a few monkeys, and a leopard. While each animal is on stage, there are facts shared about them and, in some cases, there are certain acts that are demonstrated in front of the audience.
One of the highlights of the show involved some audience participation in order to hold a massive python at its full length. Ten volunteers approached the stage and each held a piece of the exotic snake. Among the participants were Kaylee and Emma Temple, who described the snake as being smooth, squishy, heavy, and hard to hold. It even left a few scales behind! Above all, however, the girls agreed that it was really cool simply because it was something that they had never seen before.
The Wild World of Animals show is free and will have shows every day of the fair near the south entrance to the fairgrounds.
