Crawford County received some bad news in the jobs front as the county’s unemployment rate rose slightly from the previous month according to the latest numbers released earlier this week.

The Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services estimates that the number of unemployed in the county went up by 100 to 1,100 unemployed making the unemployment rate 5.9 percent for the month of November. That is up from 5.5 percent from October.

The unemployment rate for November of 2015 was 6.6 percent.

Wyandot County continues to have the lowest rate of the surrounding counties with a rate of 3.4 percent, unchanged from last month. Richland and Huron counties are the closest numbers of the surrounding counties to Crawford County. Huron County’s unemployment rate rose to 5.5 percent in November, while Richland County’s rate dropped to 5.1 percent for the month.

All other bordering counties are below 5 percent.

Statewide, the unemployment rate is 4.9 percent, while the national number is 4.6 percent.
