BUCYRUS — Bucyrus City Joint Regular Committees hosted a regular meeting Thursday evening.

The Public Lands & Building Committee brought up the idea of a namesake arch to be placed in town, in honor of Bucyrus’ bicentennial coming up in 2021.

There has been no decision made as to whether the arch’s installation will happen or where it would go. Council members are hoping to receive a grant to fund the project but are unsure if it will still happen if they do not receive the grant.

The service committee discussed whether to set two-year introductory rates for new customers who use or wish to use the city’s waterline, who are outside of city limits.

Some council members said they do not like the idea, as they feel everyone should pay the same rate and not have some people with set rates while other customers do not.

Council wants to expand the city water service to Ohio 19, Crestline Road and Stetzer Road. They also wanted to make it clear that it is only an extension of city water service though and will not require annexation to the city.

The Health and Safety Committee recently have been notified of several crosswalks, some by the square, that could use some updated signs to make the crosswalk more apparent to drivers and those trying to get across the street.

The possibility of signs with flashing LED lights was discussed, but no decision was made. They also deliberated over better-marked crosswalks by the hospital and on school property.
