GALIONꟷA Columbus man was arrested after a high-speed chase that ended with a crash and a short foot chase in Galion early Saturday morning at 12:19 a.m.

Officers were in pursuit of the vehicle, reaching speeds up to 60 miles per hour in the city, when an accident occurred and the man took off on foot. Crestline Police assisted along with the Galion Police k-9 unit and the man was apprehended by one of the officers searching the perimeter of the scene in the 700 block of Edward Street.

Jaquan D. Brown, 20, Columbus, was arrested for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and obstruction of justice and taken to the Crawford County Justice Center to be held for court.

Fairprice towed the vehicle involved to the home of the owner after a search was completed by officers.

10:57 a.m.-A report of juveniles throwing rocks at others in the 700 block of Harding Way East was investigated. A grandparent took care of the situation.

12:20 p.m.-Sarah Cole was issued a court date on a warrant in the 600 block of Harding Way East.

1:24 p.m.-A South Boston Street resident reported a fraud incident.

1:55 p.m.-The city street department recovered a bike from the creek in the Gill Avenue area and turned it over to officers.

4:30 p.m.-A report of juveniles smoking cigarettes in the Heise Park Pool area was investigated.

4:38 p.m.-Matthew Olazko was arrested on a warrant from the Akron Police Department in the 600 block of Cherry Street.

5:07 p.m.-A wallet found in the 100 block of South Union Street was turned over to officers.

7:24 p.m.-A non-injury accident was investigated in the 700 block of Carter Drive.

9:23 p.m.-Officers assisted EMS personnel with an unresponsive person in the 100 block of Harding Way East.

10:04 p.m.-A report of a disturbance in the 100 block of Harding Way East was investigated.

11:55 p.m.-James R. Welshans was issued a citation for driving under suspension and a headlight violation on a motorcycle. Another person was issued a verbal warning for a firearm violation and improper items were seized in the Portland Way South area.

1:17 a.m.-A report of a man lying on the sidewalk in the 700 block of Harding Way West was investigated. Philip C. Mayton, 59, Galion, was arrested and taken to the Crawford County Justice Center.

3:26 a.m.-Officers assisted an elderly resident with an issue with their cell phone.

8:41 a.m.-A Galion Arms resident reported a black and gray Mountain Bike with a newer gel seat stolen.

9:04 a.m.-A domestic dispute was investigated in the 200 block of East Church Street. One person was issued a warning for disorderly conduct.

10 a.m.-A standby was conducted in the 100 block of Grant Street.

3:18 p.m.-A welfare check was conducted on children in the Libby Lane area.

9:12 p.m.-Jeffrey L. Peters, 45, Columbus, was arrested for violating a protection order in the 100 block of Easton Way.
