Galion welcomed the newest member of its business community to town on Tuesday with a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting. Out in the 800 block of Harding Way East, Annisa Zorns was all smiles as she cut the ribbon to Green Thumb Hydroponics and Garden Center.

“I’ve been doing research and stuff on it for for a couple of years,” Zorns said. “We sell indoor and outdoor gardening supplies, from soil to hydroponics, pesticides and lights.”

Joe Kleinknecht is the director for the Galion-Crestline area Chamber of Commerce and was very glad to add another retail business to the community.

“What’s good about it is we need niche (stores),” Kleinknecht said, acknowledging the big box stores were not likely candidates to locate in Uptowne Galion. “It is very good for the community.”

Currently, Zorns says it is just herself and another person working at the store. But she’s hopeful the business will grow just like the plants she sells.

“Hopefully I can hire one or two more people,” Zorns said.
