A Bucyrus police officer was struck by a vehicle in a hit and run just before the annual Santa Parade was set to begin the evening of Nov. 17, according to Bucyrus Police Chief David Koepke.

According to Koepke, Officer Shane Kramer was investigating a hit/skip involving a parked vehicle in the 500 block of S. Walnut St. at approximately 6 p.m., when a car passed the scene of the investigation and struck Kramer in the arm with its passenger side mirror.

The vehicle described as a blue four-door car driven by a female did not stop after striking Kramer.

Kramer was transported to Bucyrus Community Hospital were he was treated and released for minor injuries.

Koepke said the parade was delayed shortly as the officer’s location confirmed to not being in the parade route, but then proceeded as planned.
