NEWS RELEASE:

Every year in the fall, students at Bucyrus High School gear up for the annual Homecoming festivities. And this year is no exception with a full slate of activities for students and the community.

Activities kicked off with a Homecoming Assembly for students in grades 9-12 Sept. 22. During the assembly, the five Homecoming candidates and attendants from the ninth, tenth and eleventh grades were introduced. The 2017 Bucyrus Homecoming Queen will be announced prior to kickoff of the varsity football game Oct. 6 against Upper Sandusky.

“The students have opportunities to get involved in Homecoming week in so many ways,” said Girls Boosters co-advisor Amy Plumley. “We have students making signs for the attendants and queen candidates, lining up chaperones, and classes are competing for spirit points this year by being involved in the community pep rally.”

The Community Pep Rally will be held beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the new Schines Art Park in downtown Bucyrus Oct. 4. The event will kick off with the introduction of the Homecoming court and attendants, and features free hot dogs, chips and the Kona Ice Truck.

The pep rally will also feature “Clash of the Classes”, a monetary donation drive with all proceeds being given to Jacie Everett’s family. Community members are encouraged to socialize, meet the students and enjoy the many activities taking place until 8:00 p.m. that evening.

Bucyrus High School alumni are invited to join Superintendent Kevin Kimmel for The Alumni Family and Friends tailgate prior to kick off of the game Friday, Oct. 6. Homecoming festivities will conclude with the annual Bucyrus Homecoming Dance Oct. 7 in the Bucyrus High School gymnasium.
