BUCYRUS—Bucyrus Law Director Rob Ratliff has resigned. Ratliff submitted his resignation on Monday to Bucyrus Mayor Jeff Reser.

Ratliff returned to his hometown in 2013, leaving a successful law career to serve his community. He was hired by then-Mayor Roger Moore in February of 2013. He ran for election in the following November and has served ever since.

One of Ratliff’s main goals achieved was to designate the city’s first property maintenance officer.

Ratliff recognized that the city needed property standards. His ultimate goal in implementing those standards was to support further economic growth for the entire county.

Ratliff has accepted a position as a U.S. Immigration Court Judge.

Bucyrus Mayor Jeff Reser told area media outlets that Ratliff’s resignation is a big loss for the city.

In a statement Reser said (in part):

“I hope the next Law Director will carry out some of the same traditions Rob did. He’s got a big heart for the community and especially for the downtrodden and poor who maybe don’t have the same opportunities.” Reser said.

Ratliff’s last day as Law Director is September 30th.
