BUCYRUS — After 19 years on the job, Crawford County Commissioners Clerk Barb Leuthold has decided to retire.
Leuthold said it was not an easy decision, but ultimately felt like it was the right time.
What made it difficult was leaving those she works with.
“It’s my coworkers,” she said. “They’re just great.”
Leuthold said she began as the front desk worker and worked as the assistant clerk before being offered the clerk position.
Working with elected officials, she said, also kept things interesting.
“They change every so often and you meet new people and experience different personalities,” she said. “That’s the best part.”
She said she picked the end of July for her retirement, so she could spend some time doing different activities instead of retiring at the end of retiring in December and being shut indoors for the winter.
While she has no specific plans, Leuthold said she would like to travel a bit and spend time with her grandchildren.
While her last official day is Friday, a retirement party for Leuthold was Thursday at the courthouse with light refreshments and desserts served.
Multiple coworkers, friends and family were in attendance.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time here,” Leuthold said. “This was a very nice way to finish my time.”
