BUCYRUS — With employees, local city and school officials, employees and perspective customers in attendance, the newest shopping option for Crawford County residents is open for business.
Gordmans, located at 181 Stetzer Road in Bucyrus opened its doors for its grand opening Thursday morning.
During the ceremony, store employees thanked the city for allowing the store to call Bucyrus home, and presented a check made out to Bucyrus High School to Bucyrus City Schools Superintendent Matthew Chrispin. The check was a $1,000 donation.

Chrispin said the donation will help multiple students at BHS.
Also during the grand opening, Bucyrus Mayor Jeff Reser shared his excitement for the store’s opening.
“We’re thrilled that they’re here and are investing in Bucyrus,” Reser said. “I urge the citizens of Bucyrus to come out and support them.”

A line of customers formed throughout the grand opening ceremony and more filed in after the store opened. The first 100 customers received a gift bag and special deals were available throughout the day.
“There’s a lot of enthusiasm here and I think they’ll do well.
The store sits in the storefront previously occupied by Peebles. It was announced in March that Peebles would be being replaced by Gordmans. Peebles and Gordmans both are owned by Stage Stores.

Other Stage Stores operated businesses include Peebles, Gordmans, Palais Royal, Bealls, Goody’s and Stage stores.
Thirty-eight Gordmans were opened in the United States in March and Bucyrus is one of 36 opened during the summer months.
While Peebles coupons will not transfer to the Gordmans store, employees confirmed Peebles cards will be usable at Gordmans.
The store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
