The Bucyrus Secondary School After Prom committee has partnered with Applebee’s in Marion, OH to host a “Dine to Donate” program to help raise funds for this year’s Bucyrus High School After Prom. The program will run April 6, 7 and 8, and is only valid at the Applebee’s located at 1514 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Marion, OH.
When individuals dine at Applebee’s during the three-day period, 10% of their bill will be donated to the committee. Monies raised through this program will help fund a new idea for the Bucyrus High School After Prom this year.
“I want to give our students something to do after the prom to keep them safe this year, so I thought we could try an After Prom Party,” Prom Advisor Amy Moody said. “This event is brand new and we have very little money. We thought this would be a great avenue for the community to help us raise money to purchase door prizes, food and entertainment for our students.”
The committee has been busy collecting charitable donations and gifts from Bucyrus businesses as well. A portion of the prom ticket sales will also be used to help fund the after prom.
“So far, we will have inflatables, a movie and card games for the students,” Moody said. “We are still trying to secure corn hole, pizza, door prizes, cotton candy and snow cones. We are also working to bring in entertainment for the students.”
To help the After Prom Committee through the “Dine to Donate” program at Applebee’s, community members can download a flyer from the district website (http://bucyrusschools.org/documents/contentdocuments/doc_23_5_1256.pdf) and present it to their server April 6, 7 and 8. The flyer must be presented in order for the committee to receive credit.
“I want to commend Mrs. Moody and the After Prom committee for their efforts to provide a safe, secure and fun after prom event for our students,” Superintendent Kevin Kimmel said. “Prom is a fun event for our students, and our goal is that the After Prom Party will be a safe continuation of that enjoyment. I hope all community members will join me in supporting this wonderful program for Bucyrus students.”
