A meeting between two parties and New Washington village officials concerning tropical birds has finally been set and it looks as though it will be prior to s spring thaw.
The meeting about the tropical birds will be held at 4 p.m. March 10. This meeting, which will host one representative from each of the concerned parties, as well as Mayor Ben Lash, Police Chief Scott Robertson, President of Council Joe Blum, and Village Solicitor John Berger. Results of this meeting will be discussed at the March 10 regular meeting of the Village Council.
“We will discuss it and we will make some decision,” Lash said.
Councilman Paul Forster reported that Rusty Kehres is waiting for the weather to break to begin work on the New Washington Pool remodel. Completion day is currently scheduled for May 23rd, in time for the Pool to open for the summer.
Village administrator Norm Lucius said he finalized the transaction for the UTV, and it should be delivered in the next day or two. He also reported on the continuing accumulation of the “yellow ads” that are being tossed into driveways around New Washington. These seem to be targeted at households not subscribing to the Bucyrus Telegraph-Forum. Lucius reported that to get these deliveries stopped, individuals must call the Telegraph-Forum and request that they be delivered no longer.
Lash thanked council for attending the successful celebration dinner held in the honor of departed member Carolyn Kaple. Kaple elected not to defend her seat last November, and the dinner celebrated her 25 years of service to the Village of New Washington.
“I think she appreciated you being there,” Lash said.
