GALION — The Galion City Schools Board of Education voted to re-employ its leadership for the near future.

GCS Superintendent Jim Grubbs was offered a new contract starting Jan. 7 and going through to July 31, 2020. District treasurer Charlene Parkinson expressed how well she believes Grubbs has done as superintendent and looks forward to continuing to work with him.

Grubbs turned in his resignation at the Nov. 20 board meeting with the intent of moving to a retire-rehire status while the board searched for a proper replacement.

He also said in November, he expected his new contract to be less of a direct financial burden on the district.

During the meeting, the board also discussed the colors that will be on the district’s new bus garage set to be built.

Board members chose to go with the same general color scheme as the rest of the district’s buildings.

The board has also brought on a Student Board Representative, Kate Schieber, as a voice to the students. Schieber is a junior at Galion High School and said she is looking forward to working closely with the board to help better the school.

The board’s next meeting is Jan. 14 at 6:30 p.m.
