GALION — Urban Industries in Galion honored a 40-year employee Nov. 8. Sheri Burdette began her employment with Urban on Oct. 3, 1978. Throughout her 40-year career, Sheri has been a supervisor in various departments.

In the 1980’s, she was supervisor of the awning department. Her work ethic, ability to adapt and leadership skills led her to be moved to a much larger department in the 1990’s, when Urban started its window division. A capable, dependable supervisor was needed.

Sheri fit the bill.

She learned the process quickly and was able to move forward training many employees during the next 20 years. Sheri also learned the necessary computer skills needed to maintain the department’s inventory and production flow.

As personnel retired, a new supervisory position became available. In the 2010’s, with her computer skills and willingness to learn new things, Sheri was moved to the Bulk Bag department where she would learn to sew and have a positive impact on the department.

Sheri is not ready to retire yet and the management of Urban Industries hopes she decides to stay on team Urban a few more years.

Sheri lives in Galion with her husband, Mike.
