Shanna Boggs didn’t plan on spending another night behind bars but, due to her plea agreement with the State, she will have to spend a few more nights in jail before being released.

Boggs was up for a judicial release hearing in Crawford County Common Pleas Court Wednesday afternoon. The thirty-six-year-old Crestline woman had pleaded guilty to a felony three drug possession charge in April and was sentenced to three years in prison. As part of her agreement, Boggs was to be taken to the CROSSWAEH community-based correctional facility upon her release from prison.

Due to the wording in the agreement, Judge Russell Wiseman granted Boggs’ release from prison but stated that she then be remanded into the custody of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department until she could be placed at CROSSWAEH.

Scott Thompson had been denied judicial release once before so it was a waiting game to see if Wednesday would be his lucky day.

Thompson, 26, had been serving time on a 2010 breaking and entering case, a 2011 breaking and entering case, and a 2012 burglary case. He had pleaded guilty in February 2012 to all three counts and was sentenced to a total of four and a half years in prison.

Thompson’s first chance at an early release from prison came in June 2013. He was denied judicial release at the time and was sentenced to another year in prison.

Thompson returned to Common Pleas Court Wednesday and, this time, was granted judicial release. He will be released from prison but will be held by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office until his admission to a halfway house program.

It took a while for Judge Wiseman to dig out the facts in twenty-two-year-old Ernest Alexander Thompson’s case but after a round of questioning, he was finally able to determine how to move forward with the man.

During Ernest Thompson’s arraignment hearing, he had told Wiseman that he planned on hiring an attorney. He failed to do so and Wiseman questioned Ernest Thompson on his financial and job status. Wiseman finally concluded that Ernest Thompson would qualify as indigent. He appointed Tom Nicholson as Ernest Thompson’s attorney and continued his bond.

Ernest Thompson is currently facing a felony four receiving stolen property charge.
