Ruth F. “MiMi” Flick, 88, of Galion passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Magnolia Terrace in Galion where she had been a resident for the past several years.
She was born November 20, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Helen (Robbins) Werling. On September 2, 1950 she married Gene G. Flick and they were married 43 years until his passing on March 13, 1994.
Ruth graduated from the Julian School for Girls in Dayton in 1947 and later from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1950. She owned and operated with her husband G&R Travel Trailer Sales in Galion. Later in 1968, Ruth and Gene started the Flick Lumber Company in Galion. Ruth was very active in the Galion community. She was a member of the North End Garden Club, former board member of the Galion Community Hospital and Galion Community Center, headed up the Pickle Run Festival with Ferd Unkrich for many years, taught Candy Stripers for many years at Galion Community Hospital, previously played on golf leagues at Valley View and the Galion Country Club and played bridge with the Bridge-O-Rama card club.
Ruth was an amazing, kind hearted mother, grandmother, wife and friend to many people. The love and compassion she showed to others was insurmountable. I can’t tell you how many people considered her a second mom. The staff at Magnolia Terrace (where she spent her last few years) absolutely loved her. They would often come in to visit her when they were on break. She always had a joke to tell or a song to sing. You always knew where you stood with her because she would let you know! Feisty until the end. You will be truly missed. But this week we celebrate your life and your love for life and your family.
She is survived by sons Michael (Donna) Flick of Galion, Gary (Debbie) Flick of Galion and Kevin (Ann) Flick of Ormond Beach, Florida; daughter Kim Wilson of Debary, Florida; nine grandchildren George (Summer) Flick, Kristi (David) Stief, Jason (Katy) Flick, Shannon (Griffin) Jenkins, Erik (Emily) Flick, Adam (Heather) Flick, Kelsie (Donnie) Miller, Brittany (David) Delk and Matthew (Stephanie) Wilson; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Betty Chadwell of Dayton and a brother Charles Werling of Atlanta, Georgia.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2018 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833.
