Donald W. Alt, 80, of Crestline, died from an aneurysm on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
Don was born in North Auburn on May 30, 1938 to the late Harry J. and Genevive B. (Cole) Alt.
Don was a devote and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Crestline. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Knight of Columbus, #1718 New Washington Council. Don served his country in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman in Korea from 1961 to 1963. He was employed by Timken for thirty years as a heat treat attendant, retiring in 2000. Don spent a good deal of time at his home. He enjoyed competing at trap shooting and skeet shooting. He loved taking many motorcycle road trips, listening to music, working outdoors and yardwork, and eating at Cracker Barrel.
Don is survived by his brothers, Raymond and Sue Alt, Bucyrus, Lowell Alt, New Washington, his sisters, Ruth L. Kouns, Upper Sandusky, and Jayne Alt, Bucyrus and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Donna J. Hicks, sister-in-law, Donna L. Alt, brother-in-law, Paul Kouns.
Friends may call Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, September 4 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Crestline, with Rev. Christopher Bohnsack, Celebrant. Burial will follow in North Auburn Cemetery, North Auburn.
