Eileen Shewmaker, 88, of Brunswick and formerly of Galion passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the Pearlview Care Center in Brunswick.
She was born March 21, 1929 in Galion and was the daughter of Howard and Zoa (Hinklin) Alkire.
Eileen was a co-owner of several nursing homes in Delaware, including the Hellien Nursing Home and the Delaware Nursing Home. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Eileen is survived by children Terry (Melody) Champion of Phoenix, Arizona, Becky (Ray) Boutwell of Mt. Gilead and Paula Tidline of Marion; eight grandchildren Terri-Dawn Nameth-Thomas of North Royalton, Chrissy Riser of Brunswick, Lesile Slade of Dallas, Texas, Joshua Champion of Phoenix, Arizona, Louri Cain of Galion, Carrie McCammon of Delaware, Christie Bowdle of Morral and Kelly Lamb of Georgia; 17 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson Matt Cain; two brothers Lewis and Faye Alkire and a sister Jean Saylor.
A graveside service will be held Monday, October 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Iberia Cemetery with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating.
