A Bucyrus man will be one of the first Crawford County residents to take part in an addiction treatment pilot program.
Michael Edward Meade admitted to violating his community control in Crawford County Common Pleas Court Wednesday. The 25-year-old Meade admitted to testing positive for marijuana, opiates and Oxycodone in September.
As per his agreement, Meade will be held in the county jail until he is placed in a pilot drug program. The program, which begins Jan. 1, 2014, uses a monthly injection of Vivitrol to help drug addicts with their recovery. Crawford County is one of five counties in Ohio to take part in the pilot program.
Meade will be in the program for one year. Meade had been placed on probation in January after pleading guilty to a drug possession charge and violating his community control in a 2010 case.
Donna Stall avoided what could have been a more serious sentence. The 45-year-old Galion woman pleaded guilty to an amended felony five possession of drugs charge in Common Pleas Court. The charge had been amended down from a felony three due to the amount of drugs that had been in her possession. Stall had less than five grams of heroin in her possession on Aug. 7.
Stall was placed on community control for three years and ordered to complete a drug and alcohol assessment along with any recommended follow-up treatment. Her license was suspended for six months and she must forfeit any drug-related property to the Galion Police Department. Stall was also fined a $1,250 mandatory drug fine.
