The 4-H Forever in Crawford County recognition dinner and auction was held recently. The community responded generously with donations when the committee was out soliciting. There were 21 items in the Silent Auction and over 200 in the Silent Auction. For that support we are grateful.
The recognition part of the day focused on Friends of 4-H, Outstanding Volunteers, Outstanding Club Officer Books, and Clubs of Distinction. Advisor tenor was also recognized.
Friend of 4-H is selected from those nominated. The Crawford County Friend of 4-H Award recognizes an individual(s) or businesses for their support of the Crawford County 4-H program. These individuals should not currently be 4-H advisors, but rather individuals, organizations, or businesses from the community that help the Crawford County 4-H program thrive.
“Outstanding 4-H Volunteer” criteria is an official volunteer who has genuine interest in 4-H over the years and has supported 4-H projects, clubs, and members thru financial donations or personal service beyond the local club or by innovative programming within 4-H.
Joining the elite few as a Friend of 4-H are: Dennis Dunn and Frank Jerger, Bucyrus TSC Manager. It is with great appreciation for their time, effort and support that they were recognized.
At the county level: Dennis helped his wife, Cindy manage the 4-H Lunch stand at the Crawford County Fair for 25 years. He has helped with the Dinner and Auction for many years helping transport items, set-up and clean-up. He has also helped with events of the 4-H Scholarship Fund and the 4-H Advisory Committee. He helped his children as a 4-H Dad and club projects of Lykens Champions. Through his involvement he has seen many youth including his own children grow up through the 4-H program, he understands the important life lessons that come from 4-H involvement.
Frank Jerger, the manager of Bucyrus TSC Store is and avid supporter of 4-H Youth in Crawford County.
He has allowed 4-H clubs, Jr. Fair Board and the Alpaca Committee to hold bake sales, car washes, and other fund raisers at the store. He has also donated/loaned supplies for county 4-H programming and donated items to the4-H Forever Dinner and Auction. The Bucyrus TSC Store has collected and donated over $1227 to Crawford County 4-H as result of the nationwide paper clover campaign. Frank continually asks how to get more 4-H youth in the store during these spring and fall campaigns. Thank you goes to Frank and the Employees at Bucyrus TSC.
Joining the elite few in the ranks as Outstanding 4-H Volunteer are: Cindy Cornell and Craig Orewiler.
Cindy is a 7 year club Volunteer in North Robinson Blue Ribbons 4-H Club, 3 year member of the county 4-H Advisory Committee serving as Secretary, She has also served on several sub committees, co-chaired the 4-H Wall at the Fair, served on the planning committee for 4-H Cloverbud FUN Day and taught at the event, helped at 4-H PROJECT Judging and Skillathon, helped put up several countywide 4-H fair booths and volunteered in the OSU Extension office.
Craig is a ten year 4-H Club Volunteer in Crawford Little Critters 4-H Club, a 8 year member of the Rabbit Committee. In that capacity he organizes the rabbit clinic and show, helps at Quality Assurance and Skillathon, and also serves as a resource person for many 4-H clubs, members and families. He also represents the Rabbit Department on the Jr. Fair Livestock Committee.
Outstanding 4-H Secretary Book Awards went to Kaitlyn Bilsing from Dairy Maids and Gents 4-H Club, Levi Hartschuh from Lykens Champions 4-H Club, and Hannah Gulley from Holmes Liberty Royal Lions 4-H Club.
Outstanding Treasurer Book Awards went to Bridget Kohls from Bucyrus Kilbourne Klovers 4-H Club, Natalie Link from Galion Blue Ribbon Achievers 4-H Club, and Michelle Flock from North Robinson Blue Ribbons 4-H Club.
Outstanding Historian Records went to Jessica Brocwell and Desiree Sharp from Barnyard Guys and Gals 4-H Club, Charity Gardner from Bucyrus Kilbourne Klovers 4-H Club, and Chelsea Ramey from North Auburn Hustlers 4-H Club.
4-H Clubs achieving the standards for Club of Distinction are Buckeye Stars, Bucyrus Kilbourne Klovers, Chatfield Blue Ribbons, Dairy Maids and Gents, Galion Blue Ribbon Achievers, North Auburn Hustlers, Tiro Tailors and Bailers.
The 4-H Advisory Committee did an outstanding job in providing a wonderful event in support of our clubs and members.
