Press release
The Bucyrus City Board of Zoning Appeals has scheduled a meeting for Tuesday, June 6th, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of City Hall. The Board is meeting to discuss the following:
SUBJECT 1: Wise Funeral Service is considering the instillation of a cremation facility to be placed in an existing building on their property at 129 West Warren Street. Wise Funeral Service feels that this will allow them to better serve families who entrust their loved ones into their care. In accordance with Bucyrus Codified Ordinance Section 1155.02, Wise Funeral Service is asking the Board of Zoning Appeals to determine that a cremation facility is similar to funeral services and/or medical facilities and be considered a permitted use within the General Business District.
SUBJECT 2: Suburban Lanes, located at 975 Hopley Avenue, would like to construct a sixteen foot, square pavilion within the fenced area in front of the bowling alley. The pavilion would stand three feet from the north side lot line and just inches from the front property line along Washington Street. This property is within the Limited Industrial/Commercial Zoning District. The LIC District requires a twenty-five foot setback for the north side yard, but no setback for the front yard. In order to construct the pavilion, Suburban Lanes is seeking an area variance from the Board of Zoning Appeals for the side yard setback.
The public is welcome to attend the meeting. The Board reserves the right to amend the meeting’s agenda as necessary.
