Although most of the election attention in Bucyrus is focused on another attempt to raise the city income tax rate by one-half percent, most of the city administration positions will also be on the ballot.
All of the city council seats, including City Council president, along with city treasurer and law director will be decided by Bucyrus voters on Tuesday. However the only contested races will be for three at-large seats on city council and the law director’s position.
Voters will fill those at-large seats from a field of four – incumbents Richard Rockwell Jr. and John Walker and challengers Phillip Rupe and Wanda Sharrock.
Current Law Director Robert Ratliff is being challenged by a former law director, John Andrew Motter.
Incumbents running uncontested for another term include Sis Love for City Council president; Jane Cremeans for city treasurer; Bruce Truka for 1st Ward council seat’ Minica Sack for 2nd Ward council seat; and William O’Rourke for 3rd Ward council seat.
The 4th Ward incumbent, Steve Pifer, is running as a write-in candidate to retain his seat on City Coucnil. No other candidate filed.
