Today is the day many Americans have been waiting for and it couldn’t get here soon enough for many of them. It is Election Day.
For some it will be welcome relief from one of the most contentious presidential elections in recent memory. For others, it is a celebration of sorts for the opportunity to take part in one of the core principles of democracy.
Many have already voted. Ohioans have cast nearly 1.8 million absentee ballots in the process of early voting. In Crawford County the number of early ballots cast is 6,257.
Besides the president, voters will also select U.S senators and congressman, state senators and state representatives. The local ballot includes several liquor options and tax levies affecting fire protection and emergency services throughout the county, as well as races for two seats for county commissioners and county recorder.
The commissioners races are between Doug Weisenauer and Daniel Wirebaugh for one seat and Mo Ressallat and Jeff Teynor for the other. Dawn Schnabel and Julie Wells are the two candidates in the contest for county recorder.
Polls in Ohio are open from 6:30 this morning until 7:30 this evening. Results and updates from the election will be available throughout the evening on Iconic Rock Q92.7 and online at www.crawfordcountynow.com.
