A new paramedic and a new contract were the focal points of Wednesday’s meeting of the Central Joint Ambulance District.
While the board and LifeStar signed the i’s and dotted the t’s on a new one-year contract, Corey Wright said a new paramedic, Don Cordrey, had been brought on board who is actually not new to the area.
“He has been a Paramedic for 20-plus years, from Shelby Ambulance, he was with Stofcheck back when they were in Bucyrus, he was on Galion Fire Department,” Wright said. “He recently retired from Galion Fire Department and he came back to us and he’s our new full-time guy.”
A representative from New Washington indicated that community has decided not to join the CJAD at this time because of the brevity of the new contract. TheCJAD also needs to sign a lease with the City of Bucyrus for the Plymouth Street facility.
Wright reported that LifeStar responded to 179 9-1-1 calls in the month of August.
