I was recently told that all politicians lie and that people expect people running for office to lie to them. Perhaps this is why we get the government we have. This opinion piece is full of inaccuracies and extremely wrong legal analysis “written” by a person who is entitled to his opinions about me.

The most inappropriate allegation involves a pending murder case. I care very deeply about Crawford County and would never, ever place into jeopardy any case – let alone a murder case for my own personal gain. My opponent has done so by promoting this fiction.

As a Prosecutor I have to deal with the facts, not rumors and innuendo like you can when you write an open forum letter. I have always worked very closely with law enforcement and have earned their respect. Oddly enough, of the examples quoted by Mr. Stover, all of them thanked me personally for all of the work that I and my office did on their cases.

Perhaps the best example of dishonesty involves the corrections officer who was served with a protection order by an inmate. The officer was referred by his supervisor, Mr. Stover, to his attorney friend (who is now Mr. Stover’s boss) to represent him instead of the County Prosecutor’s Office. Once contacted, the day before the first hearing, I didn’t leave the office until midnight and traveled to Columbus for the hearing which was scheduled at 9 AM. I fought against continuing the case and ultimately had the case dismissed.

You can tell a lot about a candidate for office by how they campaign. Some campaigns try to smear their opponent at the last minute and hope people believe false accusations.

As a candidate I have brought the same intensity and integrity to the campaign trail that I exhibit as County Prosecutor. I have knocked on doors in every corner of Crawford County. From Galion to Bucyrus to Crestline to New Washington. I have spent time in North Robinson, Chatfield, Oceola, Benton, and Monnett, New Winchester, Holmes Liberty, Sulphur Springs and places in between. I attended every one of the 16 township meeting because the County Prosecutor serves them all. I have provided information about myself because you need to know who I am… where I go to church… my involvement in the community. I have done a good job as Prosecutor – my opponent even says so. I have kept my promises that I made to you four years ago.

I would be glad to talk to anyone about the false accusations. Please feel free to call me at home at 419-562-8958 or on my cell at 419-569-2683. My commitment to Crawford County has never wavered and with your help we can continue to make our county great. I ask for your vote for County Prosecutor.
