The following day, July 7, police intercepted a target suspect of a brief narcotics trafficking investigation. Officer Wireman stopped 18-year-old David Fike of Bucyrus for equipment violations.

During the stop, Fike failed to notify officers that he was carrying a loaded weapon when questioned. After being arrested on drug-related charges, Fike was found in possession of a Glock handgun. A subsequent search of his vehicle yielded $3,969 in cash, which authorities believe to be proceeds from drug trafficking.

Fike was transported to the Crawford County Justice Center to await his court appearance.

All five suspects remain held at the county jail pending formal charges.
