MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Mansfield Patrol Post is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred early Saturday morning on Park Avenue near Adams Street. The incident was reported at approximately 2:27 AM.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2021 Ford Expedition, driven by 49-year-old David Kirst of Mansfield, was traveling westbound on Park Avenue at the traffic signal at Adams Street. 

Simultaneously, a 2001 Yamaha FZS1000 motorcycle, operated by 30-year-old Samuel Simmons, also from Mansfield, was approaching the same intersection. The motorcycle collided with the rear of the Ford Expedition.

Emergency responders transported Mr. Simmons to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The scene was supported by the Mansfield Police Department, Shelby Police Department, Mansfield Fire Department, and Auer’s Towing. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
