CRESTLINE, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford Park District will bring local history to life during its annual Living History Days on Saturday, May 30, and Sunday, May 31, at Lowe Volk Park. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days and takes place on the historical grounds where Col. William Crawford was captured in June 1782.

This year’s event marks the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding, drawing a larger contingent of reenactors than in previous years. Featured activities include Native American storytelling by Russell Morris (Shikwa Noor), military drilling demonstrations by Butler’s Rangers and the Colonel’s Company, a new escorted woods walk, and a live recreation of Col. Crawford’s capture. Organizers noted that the event includes realistic elements such as loud gunfire and historic battle scenarios.

A new children’s welcome tent will feature a scavenger hunt with prizes, alongside traditional tomahawk throwing and period games. Period artisans and vendors will offer 18th-century clothing, silverwork, native-inspired crafts, and traditional paper lace art. Food will be available for purchase on the nature center porch.

Lowe Volk Park is located at 2401 State Route 598 in Crestline. Admission is free, and the event will be held rain or shine.
