You say there’s nothing to do in this county? Well, sit right down, kiddos, and let us point out some of the best things happening in Crawford County this month.

WBCO goes country!

We’re going to brag on our sister company just a little bit. You may know WBCO as that oldies (really old oldies) station on AM that’s been around for over 50 years. Starting Feb. 1, however, WBCO is going in a new direction. Actually, it’s going in a WBCO COUNTRY LOGOcouple new directions. Not only will it be broadcast on AM, but it will be making the jump to 92.3FM, too, and switching genres to country! What can you expect? Well, think Garth Brooks, George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Conway Twitty, Dolly Parton, and more. It’s country for everyone who’s tired of the bro and pop country that top most of the country stations around here. Right now, the station will most likely only be heard in Crawford County, but let’s keep our fingers crossed for a wider range soon!

N10 Wrestling
It’s time for the league’s best to hits the mats! Wrestling may not be a varsity sport in every one of our county schools but these kids know to grapple with the best of them. What is great about these bigger events is that they have multiple matches going on at the same Galion wrestling 11time, so if you’re getting a little bored with one, you can always turn your attention to the next one over for a bit. And the moves some of these kids are able to make are just crazy. Stop by and see Buckeye Central and Bucyrus go head to head with the rest of the N10. The meet will take place at 10 a.m. on Feb. 6 at Upper Sandusky High School.

Yeah, this one isn’t in Crawford County, but we’re going to fudge our rules a bit because we Crawford County Spelling Bee 32think these kids deserve it. Boys Basketball

The second weekend of boys basketball in February is going to be giving us a pretty good treat. There are two games that are shaping up to be battles for our county teams that we’re pretty excited about: Colonel Crawford at Buckeye Central (Feb. 12) and Buckeye Central at Wynford (Feb. 13).

Despite a strong start out of the gate at the beginning of the season, Colonel Crawford went on a bit of a slide in January, which seemed to start when the Eagles fell to league leaders Upper Sandusky, 60-36. They lost again to New Riegel, bounced back against bottom of the pack Mohawk, before falling in their heated rivalry to Wynford, 71-50. Back-to-back wins over Seneca East and Bucyrus hopefully has the Eagles back on track when they go to play Wynford at BC 9602 rivals Buckeye Central. The tenacious Bucks have been hot thanks in part to Grant Loy and Jacob Shade, and even gave the Rams their closest game of the year so far. The 602 rivals are battling it out for the second time this year – in New Washington this time – with the Bucks looking tear that W from the Eagles’ grasp.

That next night the Bucks will travel to Wynford where the Royals will be looking for a little revenge for their 52-38 loss on Jan. 8. Loy and Shade were powerhouses in that game, posting double-doubles for the Bucks (Loy: 31 points, 19 rebounds; Shade: 11 points, 11 rebounds). Wynford is not without its own pair of scorers, however, with Braxton Tea and Alex Crall averaging 13.3 and 13.1 points per game, respectively. Wynford has been on a hot streak since falling to Buckeye Central in early January, defeating five teams, including their 71-50 rout of the Eagles.

The Eagles, Royals, and Bucks are two, three, and four in N10 rankings so these two games should be pretty exciting for basketball fans.
