CRAWFORD COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—In celebration of America 250 – Ohio and its transportation theme, there will be a tour of Crawford County’s portion of the Lincoln Highway on Saturday, June 27 leaving from the Sandusky Headwaters parking lot across the road from Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 OH-598 at noon.

“This will be an air-conditioned 33-passenger coach and will be a comfortable way to take in the story of how our area had two distinct alignments of America’s first coast-to-coast road,” said Mike Hocker, retired Ohio Lincoln Highway Historic Byway director.

We will also include insight into Col. William Crawford’s Revolutionary War campaign to the Sandusky plains in 1782. The tour will return by about 5 pm.

Interested persons are encouraged to book the event as soon as possible, since the bus will fill up fast, and the cut-off for reserving a seat is June 5. Youth accompanied by an adult is encouraged. “This is a fun way to offer important local history to our younger generations, but is geared toward anyone who loves local history” Hocker added.

The cost is $20 per person, and reserving is possible only by calling 419-689-3146 (Castle Coin and Auction) during business hours.
