CRESTLINE, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford Park District has unveiled a diverse schedule of educational programs for mid-February, ranging from geological workshops to interactive astronomy sessions at Lowe-Volk Park.

The lineup begins Saturday, Feb. 14, with a Rock Tumbling workshop from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Participants will engage in a multimedia lesson on the hobby of stone polishing, with a specific focus on Ohio’s official state gemstone, flint. The session includes hands-on activities and handouts for those looking to start their own collections at home.

On Monday, Feb. 16, the park will host Feeding Day at 5:30 p.m. Led by Naturalist Lisa, attendees can assist in preparing meals for the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center’s residents, including box turtles, aquatic turtles, and snakes.

For the district’s youngest residents, the Little Explorers program returns Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 5:30 p.m. This month’s “Ice Treasures” theme is designed for children ages 5 and under, focusing on fine motor skills and sensory play by discovering items frozen in ice.

The series concludes with a Family Astronomy Afternoon on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Hosted by the Crawford Park Astronomy Club, the event features a mobile planetarium, space-themed BINGO, and various hands-on puzzles.

All events will be held at Lowe-Volk Park, located at 2401 State Route 598. For more information, residents can visit crawfordparkdistrict.org or follow the Crawford Park District on Facebook.
