Trailing by as many as 13 the Buckeye Central Buckettes rallied to defeat the Bucyrus Lady Redmen 50-39.

The game started off slowly with both teams scoring six total points in the first quarter with Bucyrus on top 4-2. Bucyrus continued leading through the half and went into the break with a 13-11 advantage. Bucyrus extended their lead to 13 in the third quarter, but a late surge by the Buckettes closed the gap to five at the end of the quarter and trailed the Lady Redmen 26-21. That late surge momentum in the third continued for the Buckettes in the fourth with the team taking over the lead with six minutes left.

Buckeye Central’s Jenna Karl led all scorers in the game with 21 points. The Buckettes improved to 3-3 overall with a 3-2 N10 record.

Bucyrus had two players reach double digits. Gabby Siebert scored 15 points and Kelci Simms chipped in 14 points. With the loss the Lady Redmen drop to 2-5 overall on the season and 2-3 in the N10.

In other girls basketball action around the county Colonel Crawford defeated Crestline 88-7, Wynford defeated Seneca East 33-26, and Marion Harding defeated Galion 57-32.
