VERMILION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A 34-year-old Wakeman woman died early Sunday morning after a single-vehicle crash on Darrow Road in Vermilion Township.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol Sandusky Post is investigating the fatal crash that occurred at approximately 12:18 a.m. on Darrow Road just east of Furnace Street. According to the preliminary investigation, Sarah Gehringer was driving a 2003 Dodge Dakota eastbound when she lost control of the vehicle while exiting a curve.
Gehringer’s vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, striking a utility pole and two trees. She was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt, and alcohol and drugs are believed to be factors in the crash. Gehringer was later transported to Riddle Funeral Home.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Vermilion Township Fire & EMS, and Dunn Rite Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
