Finishing on a 31-19 run in the second half, the Wynford Lady Royals opened their season with a victory over the River Valley Lady Vikings 54-42.
With the game knotted at 23 points apiece the Lady Royals opened the second half on a 15-7 run in the third period. Free throws clinched the game for Wynford as they made 12 of 15 bonus baskets in the fourth period.
Sara Ogden led Wynford scorers with 13 points and Alyssa Harrer added 10 points.
River Valley’s leading scorers were Jensen Lewis with 14 points and Kendall Stuckman with 10 points.
Prior to the varsity game River Valley won the JV game 61-30.
In other action around Crawford County the Galion Lady Tigers defeated the Mt. Gilead Lady Indians 53-41, the Bucyrus Lady Redmen were defeated by the Mansfield Sr. Lady Tygers 57-35, The Colonel Crawford Lady Eagles were defeated by the Marion Pleasant Lady Spartans 46-34, and the Crestline Lady Bulldogs were defeated by the Mansfield Christian Lady Flames 66-14.
