BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The new owners of a longtime Bucyrus business are carrying on the tradition started by its founders nearly 50 years ago.
Eric Goodrich, Dan Naufzinger, and Kevin Peacock have purchased the Dexter Company, 4933 Stetzer Road. But they’re no strangers to the company – or its products and services.
Goodrich, formerly the director of financial operations for the Dexter Company, is now serving as the CFO. Naufzinger is president, while Peacock has assumed the role of vice president.
“We’re still booming. Sales have been going really good,” said Goodrich. “It’s pretty much 50-50. Half of our business is roadside mowers, and the other half is truck packages.”
The company sells mowing equipment, snowplows, and salt spreaders to cities and counties across the state. But it is also a full-service facility for outfitting trucks, especially with hydraulic and towing packages, he said.
Dexter provides service, parts, and installation for more than 60 product lines, including the TIGER Corporation brand of highway mowing equipment, and is recognized as one of the top 10 TIGER dealerships in the world.
Goodrich said the Dexter Company recently purchased a demonstration mower which is set up onsite for customers. “For our mowing line we’ve gone into a demo line mower and tractor where it never was in the past.”
The company also sells strobe lights, power brooms, and other truck accessories used by ODOT and highway maintenance crews. A sandblasting and painting division is even available to refurbish worn-out equipment, he said.
Jan (Hubble) and Al Fulton formerly owned the Dexter Company, which was founded back in 1977 by Bob and Dot Hubble of Bucyrus. Originally known as the Dexter Drier Company, it primarily sold grain dryers and parts to area farmers.
In 1985, the company introduced snowplows, liquid spray systems, and cutting edges for road graders and backhoes to its growing product line. Truck equipment was added shortly after, and in 1995 a new complex was built at the current location.
Today, the Dexter Company is pleased to serve contractors and residential customers as well, Goodrich said, with sales and installation of snowplows, spreaders, and System One ladder racks and other accessories for pick-up trucks.
The company has nine full-time employees who pride themselves on decades customer service, according to vice-president Kevin Peacock. “We’re looking forward to a bright and healthy future.”
