CRESTLINE, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Lowe-Volk Park will host its annual Living History Days on May 31 and June 1, organizers announced Tuesday. The event honors the capture of Colonel William Crawford, which occurred on the grounds in June 1782.
Julie Rossington from the Crestline Historical Society joined host Randy Bigley on “Community Spotlight” to discuss the upcoming activities.
Living History Days will feature reenactments, including the Battle of Olentangy at 11 a.m. each day and the capture of Colonel Crawford at 3 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
In addition to the battle reenactments, the event will host 18th-century artisans, including silversmiths, Native American artisans, tea and coffee blenders, and basket weavers. Trading of 18th-century clothing and paper art will also be featured.
Authentic Shawnee storytelling at 10 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the Butler’s Rangers group from Michigan will participate and hold an informative seminar at 1 p.m. On Sunday at 1 p.m., Deborah Sampson, a female soldier from the Revolutionary War, will share her story.
Food will be available for purchase from the park. Admission to Living History Days is free.
