BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—When you think of 4-H, images of kids sewing, farming, or raising livestock might come to mind. While that’s part of it, 4-H offers much more and relies heavily on adult volunteers. Club leaders, project volunteers, livestock committee members, fair boards, FFA advisors, judges, county commissioners, business owners, and many more contribute to its success.
The Crawford County 4-H program is now seeking an adult to manage its 4-H Food Stand during the Crawford County Fair week. This role does not require prior 4-H experience but does need basic safe food handling knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to work with various vendors and supporters. The Food Stand Manager will be compensated based on the stand’s profit, with payment following a review and approval of financials and duties completion.
Interested candidates should send a message of intent to Allison M. Cooper, 4-H Youth Development Educator, at the OSU Extension Office, 808 Whetstone Street, Bucyrus, Ohio 44820, or email cooper.2360@osu.edu by Friday, January 31, 2025. Additional information will be provided after January 31, with a final selection by February 28, 2025.
For more information on the 4-H program, visit crawford.osu.edu or the Crawford County 4-H Facebook page. Now is an excellent time for youth to join 4-H, with clubs forming and opportunities for children as young as five to participate as Cloverbuds. Traditional 4-H membership begins at age eight and in the third grade.
