Frances Marlene Lentz, age 84, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 31, 2024.
The daughter of Samuel and Ruth (Hershner) Morrison, Frances was born April 23, 1940 in Johnsville and graduated from Galion High School in 1960.
Fran worked for many years as a bus driver for Newhope and also with nerves of steel, taught drivers education. A long-time member of Steam Corners United Methodist Church Fran volunteered her time keeping the grounds. She also enjoyed her time delivering meals on wheels and driving for the Amish community, mostly for the social interaction and time spent visiting.
Musically talented, Fran could play piano, omnicord and the guitar. Her skills didn’t stop with the instrument as she loved to sing and could yodel with the best of them. She enjoyed car rides, checking out old abandoned properties, and served as the neighborhood “busybody” whenever the squad or fire department was dispatched to her area.
Fran adored Christmas time with her family and was certain there was something special under the tree for everyone at the annual Christmas Eve celebration. Known for collecting Santas and nativity sets, her home was decorated to the nines for the holiday. Known for her witty sense of humor, Fran loved to torment and tease, but her love for people was never to be dismissed.
She is survived by children Marla Utt of Mansfield, and Marilyn Weisman of Crestline; foster daughter Kathryn Aller of Bucyrus; grandchildren Joshua, Tyler, Shayla, Dylan, Alyssa, Olivia, Jacob, Dalton; great-grandchildren Brianna, Devin, Audrey, Brennan, Maddox, Alyce, Atlas, Lily and Ryker; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Along with her parents Fran was preceded in death by her first husband Leroy Maffett and second husband Ron Lentz, her sons Thomas Maffett and Mark Maffett and siblings George, Johnny, Margaret, Mary Lou, Carl and Susie.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 11 am to 1 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will follow at 1 pm. Pastor Dave Smith will officiate, and burial will be in Shauck Cemetery.
