BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW) — Cassandra Peterman, a 21-year-old resident of Bucyrus, appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday for the results of her competency evaluation related to a child endangerment charge. Peterman is facing one count of child endangering, a third-degree felony that carries a penalty of up to 36 months in prison.

The charges stem from a video provided to Children’s Services by a person living with Peterman and her husband. In the footage, Peterman is reportedly seen and heard yelling at a child to “shut up” and “stop crying.”

Judge Sean Leuthold announced in court that Peterman was deemed competent to stand trial following the evaluation. Leuthold ordered a subsequent hearing in the case, and Peterman’s bond has been continued. Peterman remains incarcerated in the Crawford County Jail as she awaits the birth of another child.
