SANDUSKY COUNTY (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)–The Fremont Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, and Fremont Police Department conducted a successful OVI checkpoint on Rawson Avenue in the city of Fremont. The checkpoint ran from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Friday, October 18, 2024, 489 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and were checked for impairment. Two vehicles were diverted for further investigation.
A total of 19 officers from the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, Fremont Police Department, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol worked the checkpoint. After the checkpoint, Troopers, Sheriff’s Deputies, and local police officers saturated Sandusky County in an effort to educate motorists about the dangers of drinking and driving. Law enforcement officers stopped an additional 19 vehicles as part of saturation patrols. One citation was issued for a child safety seat violation. Officers in Sandusky County remind motorists to drive safely, wear your safety belts, and don’t drink and drive.
