BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Melinda Sellman was honored with induction into the Crawford County Agricultural Hall of Fame during the Crawford County Farm Bureau’s annual meeting at Reinhard Farms. The Hall of Fame recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to agriculture. Sellman received an honorary plaque to commemorate her achievements.
Sellman, nominated by her family, has significantly impacted Crawford County’s agricultural community, particularly in meat production. She organized the 1998 Farm Rescue Seminar, showcasing Ohio’s first PVC grain rescue system. With 24 years of successful business ownership, Sellman has served customers statewide.
As a marketing pioneer, Sellman was the first in Crawford County licensed to sell meat at farmers markets. She directly markets over 120 steers and 120 hogs annually. Sellman also founded two farmers markets in Galion and has spoken to numerous civic groups about local foods.
Continuing her mentorship, Sellman aids other homesteaders in growing their businesses and production. She launched a social media group to promote Crawford County-grown products and advocates for local farmers and agriculture.
The Crawford County Farm Bureau established the Agricultural Hall of Fame in 2018. Applications for the 2025 inductees will be available at crawford.ofbf.org next year. Nominations can be made by individuals or organizations to recognize farmers, breeders, or agricultural industry professionals.
