Melvin “Pete” Harvey Luidhardt, 78, of Galion, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at his home. Mel was born on October 2, 1945, in Chatfield to the late Calvin and Mary (Cameron) Luidhardt.
Mel was a graduate of Colonel Crawford High School, Class of 1963. He went straight into the workforce after graduating and spent his whole working career at PPG, retiring in 2011.
Throughout his life, Mel was an active member of the Loyal Order of Moose #303 in Galion. He found joy in golfing, frequented the Whistle Stop Café where he cherished his time as part of the breakfast crew. Mel’s passion for antique cars led him to countless car shows and swap meets, a love culminating in his ownership of a cherished 1966 Chevy Impala.
Left to cherish Mel’s memories are his daughter: Amy (Corey) Bond of Virginia Beach, Virginia; grandchildren: Ryan (Antonia) Leon Guerrero, Peter Leon Guerrero and Angelina Leon Guerrero; great grandson: Daniel; siblings: Daniel (Kay) Luidhardt of Florida, Lavina Newcomer of Tennessee, Ann (Graham) Dunn of Bucyrus, Cathy (Randy Main) Bloomfield of Bucyrus, Edward (Cheryl) Luidhardt of Bucyrus, and Janet (Dick) Dunbar of Bucyrus; sister-in-law: LaVon Luidhardt of Bucyrus.
In addition to his parents, Mel was preceded in death by his siblings: David Luidhardt, and Naomi Auck; brothers-in-law: Wayne Auck and Larry Rossman.
Graveside service will take place on Lust’s Birthday, Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 11:00 am at Lust Cemetery, Rt 4, Bucyrus, OH.
