The Bucyrus Board of Zoning Appeals accommodated the request to split a portion of Outlot 508 Tuesday afternoon.

The BZA had tabled the request of the split of the lot during a meeting on June 30 when co-owner Val. J. Fawley hadn’t produced the signatures of all of the owners approving the split of the lot. At Tuesday’s meeting those signatures were available.

As a result of the approval ownership of a portion of Outlot 508 will be transferred to J.R. Jenney to accommodate for an encroachment of a structure placed at 112 Brookside Drive.

The City of Bucyrus will be looking into developing a plan to have a pathway or sidewalk on Mary Street from Lane Street to Mansfield Street after approving an appeal that would have had a landowner build a sidewalk to nowhere.

In 2008 Mark Quinn the owner of the property at 600 E. Mary Street had agreed to place two shipping containers as screening for storage of materials for his business. Also as part of the agreement Quinn was required to install a sidewalk as part of the original development approved by the Planning Commission.

Tuesday the BZA approved Quinn‘s appeals that just one shipping container was provided sufficient screening for materials stored for his business. Quinn also appealed due to the topography of the property the required sidewalk would wind up going into the Sandusky River. Quinn also didn’t see the point of installing a sidewalk that didn’t connect to other sidewalks.

After the BZA approved both of Quinn’s requests Bucyrus City Council President Sis Love suggested that the city develop a plan to have a pathway from Lane Street to Mansfield Street as a safety precautions for pedestrians.
