Douglas Hunt, of Galion passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024 at OSU Medical Center in Columbus.
Born March 10, 1961 in Columbus, he was the son of William and Phyllis (Dughman) Hunt. He married Jayne Talbott on December 29, 2007 and she survives.
Doug was a graduate of Clear Fork High School and worked for UPS for 29 years before retiring in 2008. He attended Grace Baptist Church in Crestline. He was passionate about sports and coached baseball and Softball to younger kids at Clear Fork, Mansfield Christian and Galion and high school girls’ softball at Galion. He coached the Galion Girls Softball Team to Regionals in 2018 and 2019 and won the Crawford County Coach of the year in 2019. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout and therefore mentored Cub Scouts and enjoyed working with their Pinewood Derby. He had many interests including sailing, motor boating, skiing, working on tractors and various projects. He loved to play corn hole and organize corn-hole tournaments which fueled his competitive side. He enjoyed anything that was John Deere Green.
Doug was a very outgoing person and never knew a stranger. He was always interested in helping others. He loved the Lord with all his being and worked to help build churches, spread the word of the gospel and had the opportunity to teach Sunday school in his younger years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Juston (Desta) Chapman, Jennifer (Doug) Yingling and Steven Hunt, sister Marci Hunt, brother-in-law John Reeser, grandparents Mary and Russell Price and Irene Pearce, brother-in-law Bill Talbott, sister-in-law Becky Talbott and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Beverly Talbott (Bill) Hansen.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday June 27, 2024 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday June 28, 2024 with Pastor Joe Stafford and Pastor Chris Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
