BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Jacob Mitchell Laub, 34, of Bucyrus was arraigned on one charge of child endangering, a third-degree felony punishable with up to 36 months in prison.

Laub posted a video on YouTube of his arrest, in which images taken by an unidentified neighbor showed Laub and the child’s mother, Hannah Patterson, standing together as Laub repeatedly struck a belt, (allegedly striking a child).

Assistant Prosecutor Dan Stanley presented evidence to the court, including a video taken by a neighbor that showed Laub hitting something.

Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold reviewed pictures of the young boy presented by the prosecution, describing the child as between the ages of five and six, observing belt marks on the child’s back, buttocks, and sides, as well as healing bruises.

Leuthold described the child as being “undersized”.

Despite having no prior felony record, Laub was charged with domestic violence in Bucyrus in 2022, which was reduced to disorderly conduct.

Judge Leuthold set Laub’s bond at $125,000. If he makes bond, Laub is prohibited from contacting the victim or the victim’s mother, Hannah Patterson, who has been charged with misdemeanor child endangerment related to this case. Patterson was released on a personal recognizance bond.
