Wesley J. Marriner, 59, of Galion went home to Heaven Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born March 13, 1964 in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of John and Gladys (Harding) Marriner He married Crystal D. (Bennett) Marriner on August 12, 2005 and she survives.
Wesley enlisted in the United States Army when he was 17 years old and served three years at which time he transferred and served several years with the Massachusetts National Guard. After the 9/11 attacks he re-enlisted as active duty with the army and served with the 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, GA. during Iraqi Freedom I and V. for a total of 16 ½ years. He attended Victory Rock Praise & Worship Center in Galion and was a member of Mansfield VFW 3494. Wesley liked to hunt, target shoot, fish, camp and diamond painting. He was an avid New England Patriots fan and enjoyed auto racing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Nitis (Bryon) Thorpe of Lexington, Chayton Thatcher of Galion, Clay Thompson-Marriner of Galion and Natasha (James Gloddy) Marriner of Bucyrus; five grandchildren, Charlotte Marriner, Sterling Thorpe, Toryn Thompson-Marriner, Anaila Marriner-Gloddy, Jacob Marriner-Gloddy and baby Thompson Marriner on the way; foster sister Beverly Guariglia of Gardenerville, Nevada; foster brother Vito (Nancy) Lanzillo of Florida; mother-in-law Barbara Thompson; brother-in-law Jarrod Bennett of Galion and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father and foster parents, he was preceded in death by brother Kenny Marriner.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Victory Rock Praise & Worship Center, 1700 Fairview Road, Galion, Ohio 44833 with Pastor Dan Akers officiating.
Military honors will be conducted by our local Galion/Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail and the United States Army.
