It was a simple case of out with the old and in with the new at the Colonel Crawford Board of Education meeting on Monday.
Superintendent Todd Martin gave an update on the building project that included remodeling work to house administrative offices at the current high school and the status of the new high school wing at the William and Hannah Crawford building.
J&F Construction did the remodeling work and Studer-Obringer is building the new high school wing.
The board also approved an agreement with Liberty Township regarding the site of the old Sulphur Springs school.
“A promise was made years ago before I even got here, that if the township would want the property, the district would provide it to be good stewards to the community. They were talking about doing something to remember the old school,” Martin said. “We are holding good to our word and we are providing the agreement tonight, it’s approved. So, the Trustee’s will approve it at their meeting in May and that property will belong to the Trustees of Liberty Township.”
Treasurer Vicki Stump was also recognized for her efforts that led to the district receiving a clean audit of its financial books.
“I’m glad the Board has allowed me to work here for the last seven years and give them a good audit every year and enjoy how we have the great camaraderie here at every board meeting and I appreciate their appreciation of me,” Stump said.
Finally, a resolution was approved for a contract with North Central Ohio ESC to provide speech services with at $77,470.60. That contract will cover approximately 60 students in grades K through 12.
